Rap Game
While Bilail, a.k.a. BM20, is on vacation in Marseille with Kouame and a few friends from the neighborhood, he drops a freestyle over a beat from a Nigerian band. Kouame doesn’t think much of the idea — he refuses to appear in the video but agrees to film it. BM20, wearing a PSG jersey, performs his freestyle provocatively right outside the Vélodrome stadium. Just to make his Marseille-supporting friends laugh, he posts the video on Instagram before hopping on a flight back to Paris. When he lands, he discovers his Instagram is blowing up with likes and comments. A few days later, back in the neighborhood, Razik, a youth worker at the community center, sees an opportunity: he offers BM20 access to the recording studio to rally local youth. Kouame isn’t thrilled by the idea but agrees to let BM20 represent the crew on his own. BM20 records a music video and uploads it to his YouTube channel. The track takes off like wildfire, racking up over 10,000 views a day. In the neighborhood around Porte de Bagnolet, BM20 becomes a local star.
