Pocahontas

AdventureAction

Pocahontas is inspired by the true story of this young Native American woman who became a myth despite herself. A story in which historical documentation is meticulously respected. 1607: Three English ships land in Virginia. About a hundred settlers disembark and build the first English fort in America, which will become Jamestown. The Powhatan tribes continuously seek to drive these troubling newcomers back into the sea. Amid this underlying conflict, only Pocahontas, daughter of Chief Powhatan, attempts to bring the two peoples together. The narrative begins in 1621 with an attempt at a peace treaty between the Native tribes and the fort’s settlers, and continues through flashbacks presented as a dialogue between Pamouic, the son of Chief Powhatan, and the narrator. Their exchanges constantly highlight the central role played by Pocahontas in shaping the destiny of the colonists. Based on legend, the story gradually emphasizes the romantic relationship between Captain Smith and the young Native woman… The future of the colony depends on them.
